How to Celebrate the Coronation Weekend
The coronation of King Charles III is set to take place on the 6th of May 2023 over a 3-day weekend. This is the first coronation to take place since that of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 so, for many of us, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime event. How will you be celebrating? We’ve put together a list of fun ideas to enjoy with friends and family to celebrate this momentous event!
Watch the Coronation
If attending the coronation ceremony is not possible (which, let’s face it, it probably isn’t), you can watch the event on television. Invite friends and family around to watch together from the comfort of your own home.
Host a coronation party
Hosting a coronation party is a fun and festive way to celebrate the occasion. As was the case for the Queen’s Jubilee, many people threw street parties to celebrate. This is a great way to come together with your neighbours and enjoy music, food and entertainment.
Invite your guests to your party with our coronation-themed party invitations.
Play Coronation-Themed Party Games
If you are celebrating with little ones it’s a nice idea to play some coronation-themed party games to keep them entertained. Here are a few ideas:
• Design your own crown. Cut out a crown template and decorate it with paint, glitter feathers etc. You could have a competition for the best design or imitate your own coronation ceremony with your crowns.
• Pin the crown on the king – a coronation take on pin the tail on the donkey.
• The king says… instead of “Simon says”.
Enjoy Traditional British Food
Whether you’re planning a spread for The Big Lunch, a tea party or a picnic you’ll want to enjoy some classic British food. From sausage rolls to finger sandwiches and trifles to tray bakes BBC Good Food has a royal lineup of 40 recipes good enough to create a banquet fit for a king!
